Dear STM families,
Next week our school will be hosting a visiting team to complete our accreditation work. Accreditation is a process for determining the quality of a school’s overall Catholic Identity and educational program. Saint Thomas More School has spent the last six years examining itself in order to understand what is working well for the total school community and what it needs to do better to meet the learning needs of the students and to ensure long term viability and vitality.
The visiting committee is made up of five members and will be present from Tuesday, March 25th – Thursday, March 27th. During their visit, they will evaluate the school in four main areas: Mission and Catholic Identity, Governance and Leadership, Academic Excellence, and Operational Vitality.
In addition to reading the report prepared by the school administration and faculty, the members of the visiting team will be meeting with teachers, students, administration, Fr. Pat, and school parents. Families can expect to see the visiting team coming and going from classes during their time here.
This is an important time for our school! While the teachers have prepared students as much as possible on their end, we would be so grateful if you could help with the following:
- Students should be dressed in uniform when they arrive! If they are in the classroom, they need to remove non-uniform items.
- Please encourage your student to practice “common courtesy” in the hallways! We are working on holding doors for others, taking turns moving through the halls, being quiet when needed, and picking up garbage when we see it!
- Students should greet the team members! This will leave a great impression!
- Your child should know the school’s Student Learning Expectations (SLEs). These are the four pillars that guide everything STM does – our very own profile of a graduate! You can find our latest SLE poster below. We will also be sending a physical copy home this week with every child, so be on the lookout for this conversation piece.
Thank you for the gift of your children and for your support during this time! St. Thomas More School is a special place – Go Rebels!
